RESULTS: Opening Party @ La Familia Gallery!

7 04 2007

Thanks for the Support!

The Opening Party last Thursday for the collective art show at La Familia was absolutely amazing, the most successful opening party I’ve experienced YET! Thank you to all the supporters, everyone who stopped by, hung around, checked out the show, partied after and showed me some love online and over the phone.

Thank you to Dan Achatz, photographer extraordinaire, for working overtime to shoot the event. He was there at set up, in the midst of the chaos, to the end of the night. I can’t wait to see and share the photos!! Please stay tuned… in the mean time, check out his fab work at www.danachatz.com.
A very special thank you to Deepsleep Narcotics for playing some kick ass trip hop and bringing the crowd in from the street. If you didn’t get a chance to hear the music, please visit their MySpace page or their website at www.deepsleepnarcotics.com. Show them some love and pick up their Late Night Pharmacy EP, I did and it’s HOT!

And, thanks to Lanae at La Familia Gallery for pulling all the elements together like a magician. The space was transformed into it’s own universe and made for a strong presence at the art walk. Thank you for bringing three crazy Latina artists together!

Lastly, and with piles of love, thank you Amaranta and Frida for showing your best for this unforgettable party and collective exhibit. Mexico City, here we come!
LOVE!! HUGS!!

Children of the Revolution + Can Can!

25 03 2007

Last night was so delightful, I was lucky enough to be at the Children of the Revolution concert at the Broadway Performance Hall… packed house, smoldering with thick air and hot energy. A beautiful performance by all members, including guest vocalist Keiko Ooka visiting from Madrid, Spain, originally from Japan. Keiko’s voice is dripping with emotion, strong and powerful, Geoffrey Castle ripped up his 6 string electric violin… such multi talented powerful musicians, a list too long to post, so go to their website at www.cotrmusic.com.

The band’s flamenco precision fused with Latin rock is just delicious. The ending climax invited the audience to the stage, I rushed down with a few other ladies and we shook our hips- LOVE dancing with the band!

Afterwards, the Can Can Castaways brought our group to maritime inspired cabaret! Acrobatic contortion, ornate costumed waitresses who occasionally break into performance, yummy food & drinks… does anyone NOT love the Can Can?! I’ll be there on March 29 for Luminescent Orchestrii, an eclectic string band from New York… orchestrii meaning band with “small ensemble with orchestral intent”…..it’s GYPSY TANGO KLEMZER PUNK!! Anyone wanna come with? Know about a cool event coming up? Lemme know!

EVENT CALENDAR: Artifakt show in the Underground

17 03 2007

Erin Hilleary is showing her work at the Artifakt exhibition and Top Model Show this Friday in the lower level of the Howard Bulson Building, next to Doc Maynards, in Pioneer Square. This promises to be a kick-ass party, complete with live body painting, DJ’s, Full Bar and some of Seattle’s best subversive/beautiful/slightly plesantly disturbing art. The event last month gathered 3-400 people and they have a live Top Model search–I know how y’all love top model searches….The space is rad and creepy–it’s part of the underground tour and my work will be in the hallway leading to the cold room with the semi-dirt floor and boarded up windows….ooooohhhh…..
